Atelier at Robindira Unsworth just received a new shipment of the most easy and luxe travel separates by Roam Clothing in the softest Japanese organic cotton. We are loving their reversible cardigans, long tees and skirts in the super-chic combo of oatmeal and pale blue pin stripe.

I can just visualize sitting at a Parisian cafe with a gorgeous steaming cafe au lait and a baguette with fresh fruit preserves in my little swing skirt and shawl-collared cardigan.

Now I just need a reason to plan a trip across the pond……

Our Peaceful Spirit…

Here she is……our peaceful little spirit waiting patiently to enter the world this October.

What an amazing time this is, each day truly feels like a small miracle for me.

We are in the midst of absolute jeweled craziness in our studio, finishing our holiday collection, getting samples ready for La Market, then sample production and packing up for The New York Gift Fair……

I feel her twist and turn…..flipping and somersaulting, attempting her first of life’s many leaps and bounds. It forces me to stop and take a breath, to think about where we all began our own journey…..how incredible to think that we all entered the world in the same way and from that moment on, the many different paths we all take.

I wish for her a life rich with so many delicious wonders….friendship, deepest love, passion, creativity, adventure…..I can’t wait to meet this little being that Robbie and I will nurture and share our dreams with…..this little being that we will guide to fulfill her own dreams, whatever they may be.

Dream away little girl….soon you will be here.

Our NEW Aromatic Candle Line

I am thrilled to announce the launch of our new aromatic candle line!

I have always been been captivated by fragrances that enhance a mood and conjure up images of far away places so when I dreamed of creating our own fragrance line I first took places of inspiration and paired them with notes that reflected their essence and embarked upon the process of fragrance blending utilizing my favorite essential oils and notes—-it was an amazing journey and we are so pleased with our finished creations. Hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them!

Our three new sumptuous soy-blend candles take their monikers after their places of inspiration…. Marrakech is full bodied fruit with luscious pomegranate, red currant and a splash of blood orange, Capri is infused with soft white flowers, hyacinth and ylang ylang, and Ibiza is a clean, Zen scent with notes of jasmine and neroli.

Robindira Unsworth Bougie Aromatique is now available online at the Robindira Unsworth Web Boutique, at our Atelier in Sonoma County, and at a growing list of select retailers throughout the United States.

A little R & R

We’ve just returned from a leisurely week roaming the beaches in Mexico’s Yucatan Penninsula (near Tulum) where we went in search of a little respite and rustic beauty.

Robbie and I wandered through the nearby Mayan ruins in Tulum, climbed the pyramid of Coba, and searched for shells and bits of coral that had washed up on the soft sandy beaches to arrange as our dinner centerpiece every night. We cooked simple feasts and swam in the crystal clear waters (the temperature of your most soothing bath) and lounged in our palm tree shaded hammocks reading volume after volume….such a wonderful simple indulgence to not have to put down your book!

We waited for the arrival of the sea turtles, who are currently laying their eggs along the shores of where we were staying but we must have just missed them. We witnessed their magic a couple of years ago on another Tulum adventure and what an extraordinary sight it was…..it will keep us returning to this spot for many years to come.

I brought back a handful of beach treasures that I am currently playing with for inspiration……they may make an appearance in my Spring 2011 collection… so stay tuned!

Launching Fall 2010

We have just found out that Baby Unsworth (making a debut this October)…is a GIRL!

We have been keeping it all a little hush hush up to this point but now we are thrilled to be able to share our news with you….We can’t wait!

Roses, Jewelry, Candles and Champagne

Robbie snapped a picture of me this morning harvesting roses to adorn the studio during our 2 day Spring Sample Sale. So beautiful and fragrant!

Brunch under the Wisteria…

We took a break from Spring production at the studio to enjoy the majestic wisteria at my house in full bloom the other morning…..We all had a yummy brunch, took in the wafting fragrances and listened to a cacophony of bees buzzing through the blossoms.

There is something magical about this little patch of earth that a fifty foot high wisteria vine chose as its home many years ago and it is this time of year that it really shines.

Wearing our wisteria crowns……a yearly tradition.

The Art of Inspiration

I wanted to share one of my favorite Sonoma based artists with you.

Hella Merrill is a mixed media artist that specializes in etching large brass “canvases” with acids and other solutions. Her works have a wonderful earthen quality to them–soft patinas paired with an organic lustre.

I often visit one of her beautiful brass canvases at an art gallery down the street, stopping in whenever I need an extra infusion of beauty.

Rita, our Angel.

Our 15 year old dog, Rita passed away last week and my heart is both full and empty at the same time…..

It is full with the love and the many lessons that Rita left me with and it is at a loss without the daily gazes and gestures of love that I received from her every morning, noon and night.

Rita came to us later in her life and was angry, overweight, and arthritic. She had been turned in to a shelter by her family of 11 years. We took her in with the intent to help find her a new home and quickly realized that she was not the kind of dog that was adoptable…and so we welcomed her into our family.

Rita was VERY challenging for the first year of her new life with us—we literally felt like we needed to be rescued from her! We always joked that if Rita were a person she would no doubt have been in prison—she was that challenging.

But somehow In the process we fell in love with her, and she learned that she could trust us and count on us to be there for her. We were able to understand the many moods of the very sensitive and emotional girl that she was.

Rita taught us about always fighting for what you are passionate for…..and to never let yourself be intimidated. Ever! Except when it comes to kittens and loud noises…

Rita was always true to herself, for better or for worse.

Rita followed me everywhere and greeted me with exuberance and passion when I came home, chasing me around the house, charging me with abandon, no concern for life or limb.

Robbie always said that she had imprinted upon me like a duckling to its mother–but I know the truth is that she and I mutually imprinted upon each other.

She is with the angels now and in our hearts forever……
