I know I say this every time I visit–but I just Love New York…

I flew out last Thursday with Melissa (our Production Manager and Robindira Unsworth jewelry expert) to attend the New York International Gift Fair (hard to believe it is already August again).   We spent the weekend at the show together writing up orders with our current customers and meeting many fabulous new retailers.  We’ve had a great show so far and it has been wonderful to see the excitement around our new Holiday 2009 line that was inspired by a recent trip Robbie and I took to Turkey and Greece.


Melissa has been manning the booth with a rep from our showroom in NYC the last two days (Monday and Tuesday)–and I have been traveling all over the city with Kathleen Barnea from our PR firm  D2 Publicity meeting with magazine editors and stylists.   Since I don’t live in New York, D2 makes sure we make the most of my time while I am here–which means 2 days of back-to-back 9 am to 6pm editor meetings-with a quick break for lunch in between–usually at the fabulous Conde Nast Cafeteria.   We’ve got alot of great coverage lined up for the next quarter.

Our hotel is about a 30 minute walk to the Javits Center and that is just enough time to take in the sights and sounds of the city–and the crazy humidity at this time of year.

We dont have alot of time for leisurely meals, but I always make a point of visiting my favorite Italian Restaurant in the city, Il Buco, which is located on Bond Street between Bowery and Lafayette.  You have to try the kale caesar salad–it is my absolute favorite.

After we wrap up the show on Wednesday we are heading off to Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and back again to New York–we return to Northern California on the 28th–I’ll write again soon with an update.
