Memory Lane (Boston)
Melissa and I are just finishing the Boston leg of our journey so last night I took a trip down memory lane as my life actually unofficially began here in Boston.
A few moons ago my dad graduated from college in Cambridge and began driving a cab here in Boston….and it is in this very cab that he met my mom. I know you are shaking your head–but it is true. One day my mom actually got into my dad’s cab and well, the rest is history.
Last night Melissa and I were having dinner on Newbury St and I sent my dad a quick e-mail to let him know where I was and he responded with “Ah, This is where it all began” so this led us on a scavenger hunt of sorts with my dad on the phone searching for Marlborough St and the apartment where my parents fell in love. We walked down gorgeous tree lined streets and by old churches with cascading ivy and flowering vines and at last I think we found it. A red brick house with a wrought iron gate….a homecoming of sorts.
I stood outside and gazed up at the windows thinking back to days long past and took a photo to show my dad. I am glad they made the journey and that I returned to witness a glimpse of my own history.
