J Lo

It’s the little things that count….

I am on a design deadline now and so I’m feeling a little anxious–but I decided to take a thirty minute break from the computer to water the garden and a do wee bit of much needed rose pruning.

As I was loading up our green bin with clippings I noticed JLo sitting on a branch above my head and squawking.

If you haven’t already guessed, JLo is a blue jay.

So I stopped and looked up.  I asked JLo what he was squawking about—and of course he just continued squawking.

Then I realized maybe JLo is tired of eating plums and wisteria pods—maybe he would like some bird food.    I told J Lo that I would go get some bird food and look for the feeder in the basement.  JLo stopped squawking and looked right at me…tilting his head.

Then he squawked again.

I was so excited—I  knew I was onto something!

I ransacked the basement and  located the bird seed but could not find the feeder.  I didn’t want to let the moment pass so I decided that I would spread some food out onto the bird bath that is currently dry because our older dog has a water obsession—
another story for another time.

I put the food out and I said to JLo:  “Hey JLo! There is food for you now in the bird bath!”  He looked over.  He stopped squawking.  He tilted his head to the side again.

I walked away to give him a little room and I kid-you-not:  JLo flew over, perched on the edge of the bird bath and immediately began eating.

It may seem like something so small but those moments in time that really lift you are so meaningful ….my moment with JLo  made my day and I just had to share the story with you.

Have a beautiful weekend!
